A major step in the Kansas City Royals' quest for a new stadium is expected later today.

 

The organization is planning to reveal economic data and renderings for a proposed $2 billion stadium.

 

The new stadium has been narrowed down to two potential sites, either in the East Village by the downtown loop, or in North Kansas City by 18th Avenue and Fayette Street.

 

The press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. this afternoon, with the official site announcement expected next month.

 

Current timelines anticipate the Royals' new stadium opening in either 2027 or 2028.
