Kansas State Ranked 16th in the AP Poll

The Kansas State Wildcats land in the preseason AP Poll the highest they've been since 2004.

KSU is ranked 16th in the AP Top 25 to open the 2023 season, which is the strongest opening position since the 2004 season following the school's first Big 12 Championship.

The Wildcats are one of four Big 12 teams in the top 25, along with #11 Texas, #17 TCU, and #20 Oklahoma. Texas Tech, Kansas, and Baylor received votes but will enter the 2023 season unranked. Future Big 12 member Utah begins the season ranked 14th.

Back to back national champion Georgia opens as the top team in the nation, earning 60 of 63 votes from the committee. The remainder of the preseason Top 5 are #2 Michigan, #3 Ohio State, #4 Alabama, and #5 LSU.

Kansas State opens the 2023 season on September 2nd against the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks.
