Royals Outfielder Beginning to Shine After Adjustments

A young piece of the Royals hitting core is bouncing back in a big way following a tough first half.

Outfielder MJ Melendez homered twice in last night's game against the Boston Red Sox, his second career multi-homer game. Melendez now has four home runs and five RBIs in the past four games.

Manager Matt Quatraro says the success reflects the hard work put in.

Following an abysmal first half in which he hit .206, Melendez is hitting .281 since the All-Star break with a nearly all-star level OPS of .891.

Melendez is still only 24 years old, and is improving as he moves to the corner outfield after beginning his career as a catcher. His improved results at the plate could make him a major part of the Royals future.
