Ragans Shines, Royals Win 5th Straight

The hottest team in Major League Baseball picks up another victory, marking their longest winnning streak since 2021.

The Royals blanked the New York Mets 4-0, their fifth consecutive win. Michael Massey had a two run double in the opening inning to get the party started, while Drew Waters homered and Bobby Witt Jr had an RBI single as well.

But the center of attention was on left-handed pitcher Cole Ragans, who spun six shutout innings, only walking one and striking out a career high eight in just his second start as a Royal. Ragans threw five pitches (fastball, cutter, changeup, slider, curveball) and got strikeouts on all five pitches over the course of the game.

Ragans was acquired last month in exchange for Aroldis Chapman, and manager Matt Quatraro says early first impressions are strong.

Royals will look to pick up their sixth straight win this afternoon, sending Brady Singer to the bump to battle Carlos Carrasco of the Mets. Pregame is at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon with first pitch at 1:10 on Sunshine 98.9 FM.
