Colorado to Join Big 12 Conference

The Big 12 Conference has voted unanimously to accept the University of Colorado as the newest member of the league.

Colorado has not yet formally applied for membership, however the vote by university presidents and conference executives is a major step forward in a move that is becoming increasingly likely.

The move to the Big 12 would come following the 2023-24 season and would fall in line with the end of the Pac-12 television contract, meaning the university would not be liable for an exit fee.

ESPN College Football Analyst Desmond Howard says this is a major get for the conference, landing a growing brand in Colorado.

The University of Colorado was a member of the Big 12 from 1996-2010, before leaving for the Pac-12 in 2011. The Buffaloes football program has only had two winning seasons and no bowl wins since the move.
