KSHSAA Approves Changes to State Championships

The Kansas State High School Activities Association has approved changes to state championships beginning next season.

In previous years, state football championship games were held in different locations for each class. Beginning in the 2024 season, three different state championship games will take place at three locations each.

The new state format for football will be a two day event, with one championship on Friday night and two more championship games on Saturday night at each location. All locations are still to be determined at this time.

Additionally, high school soccer will have changes to the postseason, with championships taking place at one location beginning with the 2024 season.

State wrestling is also seeing a change, with 6A and 5A championships following the model to 4A and 3-1A, with a three day tournament at Hartman Arena in Park City from February 22-24 of 2024.
