Travis Kelce Says Winning More Important than Money

Chefs star tight end Travis Kelce is constantly reminded how underpaid he is compared to what he could make.

Kelce admits he has thought about just how much career earnings he could have secured if he had chased the biggest contract, but is committed to winning with the organization that gave him a shot at professional football.

Last offseason, wide receiver Tyreek Hill demanded a trade of out Kansas City due to contract disputes. Hill would end up signing a four year, $120 million deal with the Miami Dolphins, with $72.2 million guaranteed.

Kelce is scheduled to make $11.25 million this season, which is the 52nd highest among NFL players and the third highest among tight ends, behind San Francisco's George Kittle and New York's Darren Waller.

Although he could have undoubtedly earned more money, Kelce says he has no issues with the organization, and still enjoys coming to work every single day.

Kelce has followed a similar example as quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with both players having low base salaries compared to others in their position group, which has allowed the Chiefs to build a pair of Super Bowl winning rosters in the past four seasons.
