Bob Huggins Resigns as West Virginia Coach

West Virginia head men's basketball coach Bob Huggins has announced his resignation after 16 seasons leading the program.

The announcement comes days following a Friday night arrest for allegedly driving under the influence.

ESPN writer Pete Thamel says it was the only decision West Virginia could make.

The last few months of his coaching career in Morgantown were surrounded by controversy. He was facing a three game suspension and significant pay cut for the use of an anti-gay slur on a Cincinnati radio station.

Thamel says the Moutaineers have already begun the process of finding a new coach.

Huggins won 935 games in his career, coached in 26 NCAA Tournaments, and reached a pair of Final Fours.
