A Dozen Jayhawks Named to Preseason All-Conference

The Kansas Jayhawks have plenty of preseason buzz, with insider Phil Steele naming 12 different players to preseason all-conference teams.

A trio of players were named preseason 1st team; running back Devin Neal, defensive back Cobee Bryant, and safety Kenny Logan Jr. Neal is the only returning 1,000 yard rusher in the Big 12, while Bryant led the team in interceptions, passes defensed, and was All-Big 12 First Team in 2022. Logan has led the Jayhawks in tackles each of the past two seasons.

Three additional Jayhawks were named preseason 2nd team; quarterback Jalon Daniels, and offensive linemen Mike Novitsky and Dominick Puni. Daniels will be the star of the KU offense, and could emerge as a darkhorse Heisman trophy contender. Novitsky and Puni will be anchors on an experienced line that has the makeup to be one of America's best.

Additionally, tight end Mason Fairchild and long snapper Luke Hosford were named preseason 3rd team. Kicker Seth Keller, linebacker Craig Young, wide receiver Lawrence Arnold, and edge rusher Devin Phillips were preseason 4th team.

The Jayhawks continue to take steps forward under Lance Leipold, and the 2023 football roster could be the most talented on paper since the 2007 run to the Orange Bowl.
