Independence High School Names New Football Coach

A new era of Independence High School football is officially here with the announcement of a new head coach.

The district named Kendall Fiscus as the newest Bulldogs head coach, following the departure of last season's coach Robert Henderson. Fiscus spent the previous three years as the head coach at Phillipsburg High School.

Fiscus has ties to Southeast Kansas, graduating from Fredonia in 2008. He says he is excited about returning to the region and competing.

Independence will look to elevate the football program after a difficult 1-8 season that saw plenty of defensive struggles. Fiscus says he is looking foward to continue making adjustments to improve the team's defensive success.

Fiscus will also teach social studies in the district, along with is duties as head football coach.
