Shockers and Jayhawks to Meet for First Time in 30 Years

One of the largest in-state rivalries is renewing their bad blood on the basketball court.

The Wichita State Shockers and the Kansas Jayhawks are scheduled to face off on December 29th at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. It will be the first regular season men's basketball game between the two schools since 1993.

The Jayhawks won eight of nine games against Wichita State in an annual battle from 1984-1993. The last time the two programs faced off, the Shockers emerged victorious 78-65 in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Kansas will enter the season as one of the favorites to win the national championship, while Wichita State embarks on a new era under 1st year head coach Paul Mills, looking to play spoiler against their rivals.

The Shockers are also slated to play Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats on December 22nd.
