Royals Trade for Pitcher from Phillies

The Kansas City Royals made a move to acquire a young pitcher with upside from Philadelphia.

KC acquired right-handed pitcher James McArthur from the Phillies, in exchange for minor league outfielder Junior Marin and cash, per Royals beat writer Anne Rogers. Designated hitter Franmil Reyes was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the roster.

McArthur is 26 years old and has made five appearances at Triple-A this season. He stands 6'7" and has a career 4.36 ERA in 73 minor league appearances. He was a 12th round pick out of Ole Miss in 2018.

The organization's newest righty will report to Triple-A Omaha and pitch for the Storm Chasers.
