Former Jayhawk Embiid Named NBA MVP

It's no secret that Kansas Jayhawk basketball creates some of the NBA's best players, and in the 2022-23 season, the NBA's best player.

Former Jayhawk and current Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was named NBA Most Valuable Player, winning the league's top individual honor.

The third overall pick of the 2014 draft, Embiid missed the first the seasons of his career due to injuries before emerging as one of the league's most dominant players. He has become the face of the 76ers franchise, and guided the organization through a rebuild that has taken them from one of the league's worst teams to a championship contender.

Embiid averaged 33.1 points per game, which led the NBA, and also posted 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game.

The 76ers lead the Boston Celtics 1-0 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and will look to take a commanding lead in Boston tonight, with Embiid slated to return from a right knee injury.
