Fresh off of a NIT championship, the Kansas Lady Jayhawks have been invited and accepted the opportunity to play in one of the largest tournaments of next season.

The Jayhawks will be one of eight teams to participate in the first ever Cayman Islands Classic, which will take place during the last week of November. The tournament field includes reigning national champion LSU, ACC champion Virginia Tech, UConn, UCLA, and Virginia.

KU will play two opponents during the invitational, with matchups to be announced at a later date. The Jayhawks will return all five starters from the NIT championship team, including All-Big 12 players Zakiyah Franklin, Taiyanna Jackson, and Holly Kersgieter, and one of the highest rated recruits in program history in five-star S'Mya Nichols.
