Playing in front of their home fans for the first time this season, the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens split a doubleheader with the Southwestern CC Spartans yesterday.
The Spartans claimed Game 1 by a score of 8-2, with the Ravens bouncing back and winning Game 2 in blowout fashion, 17-3.
After being unable to come from behind in the opener, CCC took a more disciplined approach at the plate in the second game, and reached base at a much higher clip.
Veteran arm Jo Airington pitched out of trouble in multiple situations to keep the Red Ravens in front, and clutch at-bats from Grace Batdorf, Ciara Moore, and Jadyn Clark helped CCC break out offensively, scoring 4 runs in the first inning, 3 in the third, and 10 in the fourth.
The Red Ravens are now 3-13 on the season, and look to take momentum into another home doubleheader this afternoon against Rose State College. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and can be found on the KUSN YouTube channel.
