Red Ravens Split Weekend Showdown with Independence

 

The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens end the weekend battle for Montgomery County with a doubleheader split against the Independence Pirates.

 

The Lady Ravens were unable to snap their skid, losing their fourth consecutive game in a 61-53 loss. Cheyenee Banks and Kennady Roach each had 16 points for Coffeyville, but the Ravens were unable to capitalize on key free throws and possessions down the stretch. Valentina Ojeda led ICC with 17 points.

 

The men's team continued to cement themselves as a serious conference championship contender, winning the second game of the doubleheader 94-84. The Ravens scored 57 points in the first half, shooting 56% from the field and jumping out to a 20 point halftime advantage.

 

Nathan Johnson had 27 points for CCC, and Landon Glasper contributed 20. Amare Haynie stepped up in a big way as well with Camian Shell in foul trouble, posting 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists in the victory.

 

CCC is on their bye week and will not play on Wednesday this week. Their next game will be Saturday against Cloud County on the road. Coverage begins at 2 p.m. CT on KUSN 98.1 FM.
