Red Ravens Sweep Mavericks, Gain Ground in KJCC Standings

The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens were able to defend Nellis Hall on Saturday, with a doubleheader sweep against the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Tech.

The Lady Ravens took Game 1 by a final score of 59-47. Kyleigh Ortiz led the Ravens in scoring with 18.

The men's team was able to snap a two game losing streak by winning Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Mavericks 92-72. The Ravens scored 52 points in the first half, and took a commanding 21 point lead to the locker room. Soti Nafpliotis led the Red Ravens with 18 points on six 3-pointers and Izek Jackson had 10 points and 14 rebounds off the bench.

The Red Ravens also both gain ground in the conference standings, with teams in front of them losing. The Lady Ravens are in a tie for 4th place with Hutchinson, and sit only one game back from 2nd place after a Barton County loss. The men are in a tie for 2nd place with Butler, and two games behind Dodge City after their loss on Saturday.
