Best Jayhawks Football Season since 2008 Ends with Loss to Arkansas

The Kansas Jayhawks football season came to an end on Wednesday night after a 55-53 loss to Arkansas in an Autozone Liberty Bowl thriller. The Jayhawks finish the season with a 6-7 final record, their most wins in a single season since 2008.

Kansas nearly orchestrated an improbable comeback, trailing by 15 points with just over a minute to go before scoring, recovering an onside kick, and scoring again to tie the game with just 17 seconds on the clock.

Second year Head Coach Lance Leipold gave his thoughts on the state of the program following the season, and what to expect from the Jayhawks when they resume action next year.

The 2022 season for the Jayhawks also introduced star quarterback Jalon Daniels to not just the state of Kansas, but to the entire country. Daniels had 570 total yards of offense in the loss to Arkansas, as well as six total touchdowns. Both of those are Liberty Bowl game records.

Daniels said that the coaching and preparation during the offseason had the team ready to overcome any deficit and battle back from any adversity. Daniels will receive national attention and possibly even some Heisman trophy talks for the 2023 season in Lawrence.

The 2023 Jayhawks season features matchups with Illinois and Nevada in the non-conference, as well as conference rivals Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. All the action can be heard on Greatest Hits 104.1 FM.
