Coffeyville Falls in Last Game of Season

Fort Scott pulls off the upset in double overtime beating Field Kindley 50-44.

The Nado started strong on their first drive of the game taking an early 8-0 lead.  Fort Scott answered right back tying the game up at 8-8 and then forcing a Nado fumble to take a 14-8 lead.  After giving up 14 unanswered the Nado offense woke up a bit and would answer back with 22 unanswered points of their own.  Field Kindley headed into halftime up 30-14.

Things would slow down for Coffeyville offensively in the second half as they did not score a second-half offensive touchdown.  Sophomore Running Back Lamarcus Allen was coming off a 44-carry game and was already up to 44 carries in the third quarter.  After Fort Scott tied it up a 30, the Nado returned an interception for a touchdown to retake the lead 36-30.  With 1:30 left in the game, the Tigers drove down the field to tie it up with 22 seconds left and into overtime we headed.

Both teams scored touchdowns and 2-point conversions in the first OT. Fort Scott scored first in the second OT but failed the conversion.  Coffeyville only needed a touchdown and the conversion to win.  The Tigers would force a fumble on second and goal from the four to walk away with the upset.

With the loss, the Nado fall to the sixth seed on the west side of the 4A bracket and will face El Dorado in the first round of the playoffs on Friday.
