Olpe Flies High In Victory Against Caney

The Olpe Eagles showed why they are multiple time state champions in 1A football, as they traveled to Caney Valley and defeated the Bull Pups 38-0. Quarterback Truman Bailey rushed for over 100 yards, including a 60 yard touchdown run for the Eagles, while running back Blake Redeker added two rushing touchdowns. Turnovers kept Caney from gaining any kind of offensive momentum, with two interceptions, including a pick six in the first half. Olpe also kept Caney's rushing attack in check, holding the Bull Pups to 82 yards on the ground. Caney had rushed for over 300 yards the previous three weeks. Olpe led 21-0 after the first quarter and 28-0 at the half, and extended their lead in the third quarter with another TD and a 37 yard field goal by kicker Braydon Fowler. Caney falls to 4-2 on the season, and will look to rebound next Friday against Fredonia. In the meantime, Olpe now has a four game winning streak.
