Ravens Drop Game One of Round One

Coffeyville will need to win two games in a row if it wants to keep its season alive, following a 13-2 loss to Butler on Wednesday.

Yesterday's game was the first of a BO3 series, also the first round of the Region VI playoffs. Although Coffeyville lead 2-1 after 3 innings, the wheels seemed to come off in the 5th and 6th innings, when Butler would score 12 of their 13 runs. Starter Chat Hayes, who had given up just the 1 run to that point, was pulled after 5 innings of work, giving up 5 runs total. Relievers Alex Galvez, Jayden Quarles and Korey Aytes could do little to stop the bleeding, giving up the other 8 runs that Butler would need to force a run rule by the end of the 7th.

The Ravens remain in El Dorado for the next game in the series, but will need to win this one and a potential third game on Friday if it wants to keep playing. The winner of this series moves on to Manhattan, Kansas for the Region VI Championships.
