Chargers Swat Yellowjackets

 

In a game that saw two big runs in the first half, the Cherryvale Chargers were able to easily defeat the Fredonia Yellowjackets 64-24 Tuesday night.

 

Cherryvale started the scoring early and often and took a 20-0 in the first quarter before it was snapped Fredonia's Bryson Harvey who scored the only points that Fredonia would score in the period to make is 20-3. Cherryvale then went on a 12-0 run throughout the first and second period to hold a 32-5 lead halfway through the second period. The second half of play saw Cherryvale go deep into the bench and outscore Fredonia 23-7 to set up the final margin.

 

Cherryvale's Stetson Schafer led all scorers with 24 points while Danny Vigil added 10 points. The win keeps the Chargers tied for 3rd place with Caney Valley in the Fredonia Sub-State standings as the Bullpups beat Dewey Tuesday night 54-44. Cherryvale returns to action Thursday as they host Eureka. The next game of the week will be Friday as Caney Valley travels to Erie. Tip-off will be at approximately 7:30 in Greatest Hits 104.1 KGGF.
