Bullpups Zip Past Chargers

Threes were falling out of the skies Tuesday night as the Caney Valley Bullpups beat the Cherryvale Chargers 49-41.

Although the game got off to a slow start as Cherryvale lead Caney 8-7 after one quarter, both teams started heating up and a three-point shooting contest ensued as all but four of the 25 points scored by both teams came from three-point land with Caney leading 21-19 at the break.

Caney continued its hot three-point shooting in the third quarter and begin to pull away from Cherryvale outscoring the Chargers 18-9 and leading by as much as 14 points at one point. The Chargers attempted to chip away at the lead in the fourth quarter but a late came a little too late to close the gap.

Gage Grant led Caney Valley with 15 points while Jack Billingsley drained 3 three-pointers and ended up with 11 points. Cherryvale's Stetson Schafer led all scorers with 20 points in the losing effort.

Cherryvale will next take the floor Saturday as they square off against Fredonia in a game that is being made-up that was postponed on Feb. 4th due to the winter storm that hit the area. Caney Valley will head across the border to take on Commerce on Friday. You will be able to listen to that game on Greatest Hits 104.1 KGGF.  Kyle Hey will be on the call.
