Ravens Dropped by Grizzlies

Cold second-half shooting doomed the Coffeyville Red Ravens Monday night as they were downed by Butler Community College 67-59 to snap a three-game winning streak.

Both teams started the game relatively even with neither getting more than a four-point lead before Coffeyville started to pull away near the end of the first half thanks to plays like this Nathan Johnson lay-in that lit up the Nellis Hall crowd.

Coffeyville led 33-25 at the half but things begin to unravel for the Ravens at the start of 2nd half as Butler immediately went on a 12-5 run to pull within one. The teams would trade the lead several times when the Ravens offense seems to run out of gas just as Butler hit its stride. The Grizzlies ended up shooting 57% from the field in the second half and ended up outscoring the Ravens 42-26 in the second half to arrange the final margin.

Love Bettis led the Ravens with 16 points with Deng Mayar netting 10 points and pulling down 8 boards. Jaden Okon netted 16 for the Grizzlies while grabbing nine rebounds.

The Ravens drop to 12-11 overall on the season and fall to 9-8 in KJCCC play. CCC returns to the court Wednesday as they host Independence in the second round of the Montgomery County rivalry. The women tip-off at 5:30 with the men to follow at 7:30. Connor Harbit will bring you the action on 98.1 KUSN.
