Raven Women Drop Second Straight to Barton

Early setbacks doomed the Coffeyville Red Ravens to play catchup for the entirety of their matchup with Barton on Wednesday, dropping the contest 60-51.

Coffeyville struggled massively in the first half offensively. Barton, on the other hand, shot above their average from both the field and beyond. Early fouls for leading scorer Faith Simpson further exacerbated the Raven’s issues on offense, although freshman Kennady Roach was able to curb the bleeding a bit with an impressive showing in the second quarter. Ultimately, the Ravens would trail by 11 into the locker rooms, 32-21.

The Ravens came out with a bit of fire in the second half, with Cheyenne Banks leading the charge. However, the Cougars always seemed to find just enough to keep the Ravens at bay. The lead fluctuated throughout the final 20 minutes, becoming as many as 15 and as little as 4, but one last push for Coffeyville fell just short, as the Ravens dropped their second straight 60-52.

Roach led all scorers with a season high of 14 points. Banks had 10. The Ravens fall to 15-7 on the season, 9-7 in the Jayhawk Conference. They’ll hit the road to face Hutchinson on Saturday.
