Raven Men Rout Seward in Return

The Coffeyville Red Ravens came back in style after a brief vacation, defeating Seward 77-59 on Monday.

The Red Raven men got back to action after 9 days off due to health and safety protocols, and in the first half, it looked like the team hadn’t missed a beat.

Despite giving up a 6-0 run early, and trading blows with the Saints, Coffeyville was able to take the early advantage through high-energy play. AJ McBride came out with two quick three-pointers, and Deng Mayar electrified Nellis Hall with this gigantic slam.

Although Seward answered right back with a huge dunk of their own, Coffeyville rode that momentum to a 10-point halftime lead, 34-24.

Halftime was interesting for a time, as Seward came out aggressive and looked to create more opportunities. That would allow the Saints to bring it back as close as 5, but the Ravens were never in any true danger. Smart and controlled basketball, along with the resurgence of McBride and Love Bettis, allowed the lead to rebound back into comfortable territory. The game was eventually brought to a long, drawn-out end, with Coffeyville draining shots from the free throw line to claim their 10th victory of the season, 77-58.

McBride led the way with 20 points, while Bettis had 18 and Mayar had 17.
