Cherryvale Zaps Blue Streaks

In a game that saw no team lead by more than five points in the first three quarters of play, turned into a blowout as the Cherryvale Chargers downed the Neodesha Blue Streaks 60-42.

The first quarter looked like a tennis match with the lead going back and forth between the teams and Cherryvale ended the quarter with a 14-10 lead. The teams had matching 15-point second quarters and the Cherryvale led at the half 29-25.

To start the second half, Neodesha's Maddox Johnson came out and hit back-to-back threes with the second giving Neodesha its first lead since the first quarter.

The teams once again traded baskets in the third quarter with the end of the quarter punctuated by a circus shot by Cherryvale's Briggs Adkison.

Cherryvale took control in the fourth quarter as they outscored Neodesha 21-7 and arrange the final score.

Stetson Shafer and Adkison both led the Chargers with 17 points apiece with Trevin Elam pitching in 15 points. The Blue Streaks were paced by Johnson with 15 points and Andrew Heck adding 10 points.

Cherryvale will next travel to Leon-Bluestem on Friday while Neodesha will be featured in our next game of the week on Friday as they remain the road to take on Caney Valley. You will be able to listen to that game on Greatest Hits 104.1 KGGF. Kyle Hey will be on the call.
