Career Day for Simpson Leads Coffeyville Over Dodge City

Another double-double for Faith Simpson helped lead the Coffeyville women overcome Dodge City 67-62 on Saturday.

An active whistle was established early on, with both teams racking up fouls and players getting into a bit of trouble early on. Despite that, the scoring came through rather quickly, with Coffeyville maintaining a slim lead throughout the first half. After Paige Scott got the Ravens going with the team's first 5 points, Simpson simply took over. She would gather 18 points in just the first 20 minutes alone, helping Coffeyville secure a 36-32 halftime advantage.

The second half saw more of the same, with both teams getting plenty of chances at the free throw line, but the Ravens did find themselves in some trouble late, trailing 59-57 with just 3:40 to go in the final quarter. However, more Coffeyville heroics from both Simpson and Jordynn Conner saw the Ravens get a final, decisive lead that led to the team's second victory over the Conqs this season.

Simpson finished with 35 points in just 29 minutes of work, and with 14 rebounds, picked up her second double-double of the week. The Red Raven women are now 14-5 on the season and 8-5 in Jayhawk Conference play.
