Hot-Shooting Cowley Overwhelms Coffeyville Women

One bad quarter doomed the Coffeyville women’s basketball team Monday night, falling to Cowley 64-51.

Both teams struggled for any kind of offense in the first half. The Ravens and the Tigers both shot under 25% over the first 20 minutes, but Cowley used their chances from the free throw line to take a 20-15 advantage at the break.

Coming out of the locker rooms, Cowley seemed to find its stride while Coffeyville continued to misfire on offense. The Tigers hit six 3-pointers in a 22-point quarter, doubling its total and putting the Ravens behind by as many as 18.

The Ravens finally got things going in the fourth quarter, but it ultimately would be too late. Coffeyville could only get back to within 9, eventually dropping the contest, 64-51.

Nakia Cullom led the Ravens in scoring, picking up all of her 14 points in the second half. Dariauna Carter joined her in double digits with 10. The Coffeyville women fall to 12-5 on the season, 6-5 in conference play.
