Nado Split in First Road Game of New Year

Field Kindley splits the two matchups at Fort Scott as the girls fall 68-31 and the boys win 64-54.

In the girl's matchup, the Lady Nado struggled to find a rhythm offensively as turnovers and missed shots turned into easy points on the other end for Fort Scott. Coffeyville would get a strong outing early from Junior Chaunte Porter who had 7 of the team's 9 points in the first quarter and 11 of her 13 points in the first half. The Tigers got a strong performance from Keegan Yarrick who had 21 points.

It was a back and forth showdown in the boy's matchup as the two teams were tied at 14 after the first quarter. The Nado would pull away at the end of the half with a 30-24 lead. Fort Scott opened up the second half on a 6-0 to tie the game back up. After multiple lead changes the Nado grabbed their 6 point lead back heading in the fourth quarter 47-41. In the fourth Coach Griff Walker slowed the tempo down and the Nado played smart offensive basketball finding easy shots to maintain their lead. The Nado were able to pull away with a ten-point advantage the largest lead of the night to end the game. Seniors Caden Herring and Ethan Viets lead the team with 16 and 15 points and Freshman Keshawn Hayes added 13 points off the bench.

The Nado are back in action on Friday as they travel to Altamont to take on Labette County.
