In a battle of Tri-Valley League rivals, the 7th ranked Erie Red Devils moved to 7-0 on the season as they beat Caney Valley 55-45 Tuesday night.
Caney was able to hold Erie scoreless for the first four minutes of the game but struggled to capitalize on it by only scoring four points during that stretch. However, the Bullpups would hold the lead for the entire first quarter thanks to shots like this from Gavin Stimpson.
Caney would hold the lead 13-10 at the end of the first period but then went ice-cold as they only scored five points in the second quarter and Erie pulled ahead at the half 22-18. The Bullpups kept it close in the third quarter and only trailed by seven at the end of the third and got within five points in the fourth quarter. However, Erie's Ethan Bartholomew broke the back of the Bullpups with this downtown bucket late.
Erie improves to 7-0 on the season and will face Eureka on Friday. The Bullpups drop to 1-5 and head into Oklahoma to face off against Wyandotte on Friday. You can listen to the game on Greatest Hits 104.1 KGGF. Kyle Hey will be on the call.
