Late First Half Run Leads Indy Over Coffeyville Women

After a thrilling victory over #25-ranked Hutchinson, the Coffeyville women couldn't keep the momentum going into Independence, dropping the first contest between the two rivals 68-54.

After falling behind 20-10 to start the game, Coffeyville seemed set to work some of its come-from-behind magic after getting back to within 2 points at 22-20. However, that was the starting point for a scoring drought that saw the Ravens score just 2 more points over the next 8 minutes. A 16-point Pirates lead at the half grew to as many as 26 in the second half, with Coffeyville bringing it back just enough for a respectable final score of 68-54 by the final whistle.

Coffeyville shot just 25% from the field, and just 58.1% from the free throw line. Cheyenne Banks was an exception to the offensive trouble, as she led all Ravens scorers with 17 off the bench.  She shot 7-11 from the field, but was 3-8 from the charity stripe.

The Ravens are 11-3 on the season, and 5-3 in conference play. They'll be back in action in early January, traveling to Concordia to take on the Cloud County Thunderbirds.
