Nado Pulls Away Late, Captures 3rd Place

In a game that was close and went back and forth multiple times, Coffeyville was finally able to pull away from Oologah in the 4th quarter to capture the 3rd place title 71-57 in the Ty Hewitt Memorial Basketball Tournament in Nowata.

The opening half was like two boxers throwing punches but neither team going down, and Coffeyville led at the half 33-31. After three quarters, it was still only a two-point game at 46-44 and that is when Coffeyville went to work. The Nado went on a 17-3 run to open the quarter and was sparked by back-to-back buckets by Jazavier Logan.

The Nado would not let Oologah get any closer the rest of the way before winning by 14 points. After the game, Coach Griff Walker said he was proud of the way his team bounced back after the big loss to Oklahoma Union.

Coffeyville had three players in double figures with Caden Herring leading all scorers with 24 points, while Logan had 19 and DeAndre Shobe added 12.

Coffeyville finishes off the December portion of their schedule as they travel to Independence for part one of the Montgomery County rivalry on Friday. The girl's game will begin at 6 pm with the boys to follow at 7:45 pm. You can listen to both games on Sonshine 98.9 KQQF. Matt Jordan will be on the call.
