Cougars Maul Nado

Field Kindley started slow and could never recover as they were crushed by Oklahoma Union 65-33 Thursday night in the semi-finals of the Ty Hewitt Memorial Basketball Tournament in Nowata.

Hot-shooting from the OKU and a swarming press never let the Nado get comfortable in the first quarter as the Cougars led 11-0 early on and had an 18-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Nado shot better in the second but still trailed 32-16 at the half. Oklahoma Union would then put the game away with 23-13 third quarter to widen their lead to 55-28.

The Nado was led by Ethan Viets with 14 points with 10 of those coming in the 2nd half. Oklahoma Union was led by Kade Hollingshed with 27 points followed by Jaiden Kennard with 18 points.

The Nado will look to bounce back and capture 3rd place in the tournament as they will play Oologah at 5:30 on Saturday. You can listen to the game on Sonshine 98.9 KQQF. Kyle Hey will be on the call.
