The Griff Walker era got off to a huge start as the Golden Nado beat Nowata in the first round of the 2021 Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament.
Coffeyville got out to a 15-10 at the end of the first quarter and still held a tight 24-20 lead at halftime. After allowing Nowata to get within one at 26-25, Coffeyville went to work by going on a 13-0 run to make the score 39-25 punctuated by Caden Herring.
Nowata would then go on a 13-0 run of their own that covered the last part of the third quarter and the first minute of the 4th quarter to tie it at 40. The 4th quarter moved along and neither team was able to shake the other but JazavierLogan was able to shut the door on Nowata.
Coffeyville will return to action Thursday at 8:30 pm to square off against the winner of the Oklahoma Union – Fairland game tonight at 8:30 pm. You will be able to listen to Thursday's game on Sonshine 98.9 KQQF.
