Sedan Falls to Canton-Galva in State Sectionals

A great year for the Sedan Blue Devils football team has sadly come to an end after a 52-6 loss to Canton-Galva in the state sectionals.

The Blue Devils had no answer for the Eagles' offense, led by senior receiver and Kansas State commit Tyson Struber. The 2019 state champions only saw two of its drives end in a result other than a touchdown.

Meanwhile, the high-scoring Sedan offense that most teams in the area have come to know couldn't get themselves off the ground. The Blue Devils did pick up one touchdown, a 25-yard Brec Long run in the second quarter that briefly brought the score back to 16. However, it was all the team could muster, as the game was eventually decided in the third via mercy rule.

Sedan finishes its season at 10-1. Canton-Galva moves onto the semi-finals, where they will face defending state champion and district rival Little River. With the Blue Devils' loss, that will conclude our Game of the Week coverage for the football season. Up next is basketball season, starting next month. Stay tuned for further updates and broadcast schedules.
