Raven Women Waltz Past Bethany JV

The Coffeyville women's basketball team remains undefeated after defeating Bethany JV 89-36 on Wednesday.

The Lady Swedes junior varsity, coached by former Coffeyville assistant Sarah Bartel, trailed by double-digits for the vast majority of the contest. Coffeyville grabbed a 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter, extended that lead to 32 by the end of the first half, and even shut out Bethany JV in the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw the two teams evenly matched, but it was much too late for any sort of comeback attempt, as Coffeyville secured its 53-point victory.

The Red Ravens were effective on both sides of the ball, shooting over 45 percent from the field and draining a season-high 13 three-pointers. Wednesday's large lead also allowed head coach Tony Turner to give equal minutes to almost every member of the roster. No starter logged more than 15 minutes. However, Amiya Josey did lead the the Ravens in scoring once again, gathering 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Paige Scott and Cheyenne Banks each recorded 14 points a piece, while Jordynn Conner brought in 13 rebounds in just 15 minutes.

The Red Raven women are now 5-0 heading into a Friday night matchup with Connors State. The men will join them, playing against Southern Arkansas Tech. Pregame will start at 5:00 pm, with the women tipping off at 5:30.
