CCC Spooks ICC

Coffeyville Community College takes the victory over Independence Community College in a Halloween edition of their rivalry winning 19-9. There was a lot on the line for the Red Ravens in this one. With the win CCC wins a share of the Jayhawk Conference Title, is the one seed for the conference tournament and keeps their chances of playing for a national championship alive.

The Ravens would strike early in this one taking a 7-0 lead on their first drive of the game on a 36-yard pass to Chris Bellamy from Jakson Thomson. CCC would strike again on a strong Dorian Lewis 6 yard run to extend the lead to 14-0. Both teams would trade field goals and head into the half with a 17-3 CCC lead.

Special teams came up big in the second half for CCC as George Eberle would pin ICC at their one own late in the first quarter. A bad snap by ICC would send the ball out of the endzone for a safety and a 19-3 lead. ICC would find the endzone for the first time on a 16 yard pass to Deontay Wilson from Tyriq Starks but would fail the two-point conversion. ICC would have a chance to cut into the lead but after a slow progressing drive and then a turnover on downs, CCC would lineup in victory formation to seal the win.

The Ravens will take on Fort Scott in the first round at home on Sunday at 1:00pm and ICC will take on Highland also at 1:00pm.
