Sedan Captures District Championship in Dominating Fashion

Sedan has claimed itself another district championship, defeating Cedar Vale-Dexter via the mercy rule at 60-0.

The Blue Devils ran just nine offensive plays, but those nine plays resulted in seven touchdowns. Sedan quarterback Brec Long was responsible for four of those seven. That included three through the air to senior receiver Dameion Hatten, including this 43-yard score.

The Spartans just could not keep up with Sedan on either side of the football. Sedan's defense also recorded five turnovers on the evening, including three fumble recoveries and two interceptions. One of those interceptions resulted in the game's lone defensive touchdown, as junior lineman Koda Blankinship found himself in the right place at the right time.

The running clock began late in the first quarter, and Sedan easily cruised to a halftime mercy-rule victory at 60-0.

With the victory, Sedan moves to 7-0 on the season and captures the District 1 championship. Cedar Vale-Dexter falls to 0-7 this season. Next week's Game of the Week will head to Howard, as the West Elk Patriots host the Yates Center Wildcats in a game with plenty on the line. You can tune in, as always, on 690AM, KGGF.
