Neodesha showed moments of promise but ultimately could not string together the offense needed to overcome St. Mary's-Colgan Friday night. The Panthers defeated the Bluestreaks 44-7.

 

Colgan scored early and often. The Panthers got things started with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Tucker Harrell to Colin Hite and then followed up with a 36-yard interception return on Neodesha's first offensive drive. Cooper Simmons would then make it a three-score ballgame with his own 37-yard touchdown.

 

Two more Colgan touchdowns in the second quarter would make it 30 consecutive points, but Neodesha would put the pieces together just before the half. Freshman quarterback Logan Gillett stood firm under pressure and connected with senior receiver Peyton Toms for this 34-yard score.

 

Unfortunately, that would be all the scoring the Bluestreaks could muster. Colgan would strike twice more in the third quarter to start the running clock. One last Neodesha effort would come just short of the endzone, and the game would conclude at its final score of 44-7. 

 

Colgan improves to 3-3 on the season, while Neodesha falls to 0-6. Next week's Game of the Week returns us to 8-Man football, as Sedan welcomes Cedar Vale-Dexter to Prather Field.
