Galena Takes A Bite Out of the Bullpups

Turnovers and costly penalties doomed the Caney Valley Bullpups on Friday night as they dropped their first game of the year to Galena 38-22.

The offenses for both teams started slowly as they went three and out on their first series. However, Caney Valley struck the scoreboard first on their second drive thanks to Baylor Thornton.

Galena was then able to put together back-to-back touchdown drives that were capped off with runs of 1 yard and 46 yards by quarterback Brett Sarwinski to give Galena a 16-8 lead in the first half. But Caney Valley would answer back with a touchdown drive of their own capped off with a pass to Gavin Stimpson.

Galena was able to rip off a touchdown drive at the end of the first half and beginning of the second to increase their lead to 32-16. Caney Valley managed to drive down to the Galena 5-yard line but shot themselves in the foot with several penalties and never recovered.

Caney Valley falls to 4-1 on the season and will host Parsons next Friday for homecoming.
