The Caney Valley Bullpups scored early and often as they blasted Erie by a score of 36-0.
Caney Valley running back Baylor Thornton got the Pups on the scoreboard with just under 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter with a plunge over the left side of the line. The ensuing 2-point conversion was good and Caney Valley led 8-0.
The big play of the game came with just under a minute left in the first quarter courtesy of running back Trey King.
Thornton and King would tack on one more touchdown apiece as Caney Valley took a 28-0 at the half. The Bullpups would coast in the second half for the easy win, but not without a brilliant play by defensive back Aydenn Waltrip to set up the Bullpups' final score.
Caney Valley begins district play next Friday as they travel to Cherryvale for a meeting of the cross-county rivals. Pregame begins at 6:30 pm while the game kicks off at 7:00 pm. KC Meiners and Kyle Hey will be on the call.
