Red Ravens Beat Butler on Last Second Play

The Coffeyville Red Ravens were able to seal their 29-28 win over Butler with a two-yard run by Star Thomas as time expired.

The Red Ravens surrendered a touchdown to the Grizzlies with 1:15 left that made the score 28-23. After a personal foul penalty, the Red Ravens had a couple of chunk plays from tight end William Dennis and Bryce Childress to put them in the red zone. With just 19 seconds left and the ball at the one-yard line, they ran a pitch play to the right side for a one-yard loss. With time running down, Thomas ran to the left side which resulted in the game-winning score.

Throughout the contest, both offenses tried to take advantage of the howling south winds that made it difficult for both team's quarterbacks and punters. Both teams relied more on their running game to move down the field.

For the Red Ravens, Star Thomas amassed 154 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries and Courtney Jackson rushed for 59 yards on 17 attempts. Quarterback Kolbe Langhi had arguably his best game yet with 16 completions on 25 attempts and 173 yards.

Coffeyville improves to 3-1 and will play Arkansas Baptist next week at 3 p.m.
