Coffeyville Earns Chance at National Championship

It'll be an all-KJCCC East showdown, with a National Championship on the line, as the Coffeyville men's basketball team defeated 6th-seeded Chipola 66-63 on Friday.

Friday's game was the kind of game that we've come to know and love from the Red Ravens, who kept the score low and manageable despite some early struggles from the field. Heading into the locker rooms, with neither team breaking 30, it was clear that it would be a fight to the finish. Coffeyville would shoot 44 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes, much better than the 34 percent clip they had put up in the first 20. Chipola would get a final chance with less than 10 seconds to go and trailing 65-63, but freshman Hayden Brittingham would pick the pockets of Dontae Walker to seal the deal for Coffeyville.

Freshman guard Love Bettis led all Coffeyville scorers with 17 points. He shot 5-of-8 from outside the three-point line. Tylor Perry recorded 14 points, and Blaise Keita added 11 as well. The Red Ravens will now play a final grudge match with fellow Jayhawk Conference member Cowley with a National Championship at stake. The 8th-seeded Tigers defeated Ranger 116-97.

You can hear Saturday's championship game at 6 pm on 690AM, KGGF.
