The Independence High School Boys Varsity golf team won its own tournament yesterday.

The Bulldogs collectively shot a 394 which was 11 strokes better than second place Pittsburg who shot a 405 and Field Kindley placed third with a 411.

Chanute's Drayton Cleaver placed first overall individually with a 77. Field Kindley's Tyler Zimmerman placed third with a 90 and Independence's Jimmy Unruh placed fourth with a 91. Zac Becker from Field Kindley finished sixth with a 95 and Independence's Christopher Ortolani finished eighth with a 98.

Their next match will be in Pittsburg on Tuesday.
