Former Caney Valley Bullpup Picks Up Win in First Career Start at WSU

A former Caney Valley Bullpup made his first career collegiate start to some critical acclaim yesterday evening.

Freshman Jace Kaminska at Wichita State threw five innings of one-run baseball en route to a 5-1 win over K-State. It was Kaminska’s first start and his first action on the mound in two weeks. Over his five frames, he allowed one unearned run on three hits, struck out four and walked two. Kaminska says he felt a little bit more comfortable starting than he has felt out of the bullpen.

Kaminska is well-known regionally after not allowing a run in his entire junior campaign in Caney. He once struck out 29 consecutive batters over the course of two games in his junior year.

The Shox improve to 9-8 and are back in action against Omaha on Friday at 6 p.m. As for the BatCats, they fall to 13-7 and will begin conference play in Stillwater against Oklahoma State on Friday at 6 p.m.
