Sunrise Christian Academy Head Basketball Coach Luke Barnwell Wins Naismith High School Boys Coach of the Year

 

Sunrise Christian Academy head basketball coach Luke Barnwell won the award of the Naismith Boys' High School Coach of the Year.

 

Barnwell in his sixth year at the helm of the national powerhouse in Bel Aire, KS (northern suburb of Wichita) led the Buffaloes to an 18-2 record including wins over #1 Montverde Academy and #2 IMG Academy along with an invite to the GEICO High School Nationals tournament.

 

The team consists of multiple commits to major DI programs including Kendall Brown who is heading to Baylor, Kenny Pohto who is committed to Minnesota, Kennedy Chandler who is committed to Tennessee, Zachary Clemence who is committed to Kansas, and 2020 Gatorade Player of the Year Grady Dick who is also committed to KU.

 

Sacramento Kings shooting guard and Sunrise alum congratulated Barnwell on Twitter saying "well deserved my guy".
