Perry, Bettis Shine In Win Over Barton

Coffeyville extended its season-opening winning streak to 7 games Wednesday, taking down Barton Community College 81-64.

Despite taking an early 11-2 lead, the two teams would largely trade blows for most of the first half. The Cougars would quickly close the gap, and the teams would eventually find themselves tied at 24. This would prove to be Barton’s last chance at holding a lead, as Coffeyville flipped the switch and pulled a 12-0 run just before the half.

Heading into the locker rooms with a 12-point lead, Coffeyville largely carried the momentum of its run into the second half. Early buckets from Blaise Keita kept the Cougars at arms length. Tylor Perry would also have yet another outstanding three-point shooting performance, going 3-4 from beyond the arc to further improve upon his prior 70 percent shooting percentage. Barton would get as close as 8, but the Ravens would once again pull away to cruise to the 17-point victory.

Perry led all Ravens scorers with 16. Love Bettis also recorded a season-high 15 points in the contest.

The Coffeyville men will once again be in action this Saturday, but will also return to Nellis Hall to welcome the Northwest Kansas Tech Mavericks. That game can either be heard on US98.1, KUSN, or can be viewed online at the US98 YouTube channel.
