Sedan Drops Close Contest to Cedar Vale-Dexter

A late run just wasn't enough as the Sedan Blue Devils dropped Tuesday's Game of the Week, 44-42, to the Cedar Vale-Dexter Spartans.

Despite Sedan jumping out to a quick 11-4 lead, the Blue Devils would go cold from just about everywhere on the floor. The Spartans were able to catch up slowly, but surely, and eventually eclipsed Sedan to take a 22-19 lead into the half.

Both teams would have a hard time getting things going in the third quarter, but soon, the Spartans' Cole Criss caught fire from beyond the arc, hitting three consecutive threes to help Cedar Vale-Dexter pull away. The Blue Devils would trail by as much as 10 at 39-29, but the team would show some fire in the closing minutes. They'd pull back to within 2 at 44-42, but a last second three by Kaden Walker would fall just short. Dameion Hatten would lead all Sedan scorers with 16, while Criss led the Spartans with 15.

Sedan drops to 8-3 on the season and suffers its first loss to a team other than the West Elk Patriots. Stay tuned for our next Game of the Week next week, either on 690AM, KGGF, or US98.1, KUSN.
