A man has permanent damage to his left eye during a bar fight involving KU basketball player Silvio de Sousa, according to an affidavit.

The incident occurred early New Year's Day outside of Brother's Bar in Lawrence. The victim recalled that he was struck on the face by a closed right fist and bled from his eye after he was struck.

The alleged victim's mother informed officers that he was mildly autistic.

De Sousa announced a few weeks ago that he had planned on opting out of the 2020-21 basketball season. De Sousa has been suspended in the past for his legal guardian accepting money to play for the Kansas basketball program along with his part in the K-State-KU brawl that occurred in January in which he grabbed a barstool and tried to strike a K-State player with it.
